Some backgrounds I painted for The Party Poopers episode of Wander Over Yonder. Previously I mentioned I was the unofficial food painter for the show. This whole episode was a bunch of poop puns and naturally one of my favorite episodes.

One thing I had to change was that I was not allowed by Standards and Practices to paint the pudding as chocolate flavored. Boo!

This week Disney XD aired a Wander Over Yonder episode called “The Family Reunion”. This is a special episode for me, because it was the first time I was given the honor of color scripting the entire episode! A color script is a tool some shows use to bring a cohesive and unique look for each episode. It’s a rough bird’s-eye-view of all the key scenes. It should reflect the mood of each scene, look good, and let the characters stand out.

In the episode we see Sylvia’s home planet for the very first time. I took inspiration mainly from various sitcoms from the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s. I’ll post up some final backgrounds next!

Last night Wander over Yonder took home the Annie Award for Best Animated Television/Broadcast for Children!
Huge congratulations to everyone on our crew here at Disney TVA and at Boulder Media in Ireland. We have such amazing people working on this show and I would like to thank them all for their talent, their dedication, and their friendship.
Wander is a blast to make and we try to instill each show with silliness, sweetness, and sincerity. It really means a lot to us to have our work recognized by those in the animation community- both professionals and fans.
So thank you!
Also congratulations to the other nominees, there were so many incredible shows nominated this year that I had no idea who was going to take it. I’ve been in this business for over 20 years and the quality of the work being made today continually inspires me to keep going and making cartoons.
So I guess this means it’s OK for Hater to think he’s “The Greatest in the Galaxy!”………. for a little while at least .
